The Role Of Defoamer In Microbial Fermentation Process

In most microbial fermentation, foams form in the culture medium under aeration due to the presence of protein-based surfactants. There are two types of foam formed: one is the foam on the surface of the fermentation liquid, and the other is the foam in the fermentation liquid. Foaming can bring many disadvantages, such as the reduction of fermentation tank charge coefficient, oxygen transfer system, etc. So foam control is the basic condition to ensure normal fermentation.
